Busy Sunday 06.12.09

Last sunday was a super busy day to me, given that I usually just laze at home and do nothing. Its my way of getting recharge after a tired week of working days. But this Sunday was kinda different. For the first time, I took part in a flea-market, selling my brownies. Its more of for fun and creating the opportunity for people to know the existance of my brownies. Thanks to Kim. She and her bf (whose father is a partner with actress Andrea de Cruz of a hair salon, CINQ). They let us have a little fun of flea-market at their salon on Sunday. Yeah, Andrea was there for just a short while and she bought some brownies from me.)

Superhubby took some of the photos but I will upload the photos taken from the flea-market much later.

After the flea, Superhubby dropped me at Jac's place and we went for dinner at Sushi Tei at Paragon. WOW!!! The place is fantastic, nice cozy ambience. The restaurant has moved to another unit and been nicely renovated. Quite impress and the menu is special too. We ordered food that other branches don't serve.

My all time favourite, gyu-don, but this menu has the combination of gyu-don with japanese curry. Perfecto!! Loved it but Jac prohibited me from finishing them up. *sob sob*

Uni sushi... (sea urchin)...soft but tasteless to me. Don't know why Superhubby loves it. He wasn't with us, otherwise he will be the happiest man at dinner. Whenever we go to a sushi bar.. he will always hunt for uni but just his luck, they are always out of stock. Jac ordered this for me cos she knew I have never tasted it before and she wanted me to try it.

Not sure what are these called as Jac ordered these too. All I did was to eat them. I eat almost anything in a Japanese restaurant. But these are salmon wrapped in .. ermm... don't know wat... hahaha.. oops!

Sword fish sashimi... I love this fish but I was told by friends that they contain high level of mercury and not good if eaten too much.

Now... Jac explained... "this is gonna be the right amount of rice you should be eating... nothing more that this... okie?"... and I went..."Orghhhhh... (looking horribly sad)... "

By the way, this little hill of rice... are of 4 spoonfuls. Thats it.... thats all I can have!!!!!! Not just for this dinner, but for all my meals... for a long time to come... (she and Superhubby are trying real hard to get me to lose weight... Superhubby asked for her help and here she is again... oh... Jac's profession... she is a Dietitian... but she is my BFF... so thats explain why Superhubby got her to help cos he knew, I listen to her... but I still find it rather pathetic to be eating only 4 spoonful of rice per meal.. I will try ... real hard...

After dinner, we went shopping at Paragon, CK Tang & Takashimaya, and Jac bought lots of stuff.. I am not gonna mentioned what she bought earlier but the last thing she got at Taka, is this little softy Xmas tree. So cute... it's about 1 ft tall.... and

.... if you press on this little red music note, it will play the song "O Christmas tree"... damn cute lor.. "tak boleh tahan.. ".. we couldn't help laughing at it.. she loves it instantly and bought it. (when I saw her happy laughter, I knew I wanted to get his for her as Xmas pressie.. but she bought it instantly.... now I have to think of something else to get for her Xmas pressie).

Yuriko the Onesan with Ototo Akira

These are Joel and Mayuko's kids. Little Yuriko with her newborn baby brother Akira.
Baby Akira is the latest joy of Joel and Mayuko. He was born on the 12th November. We visited him last Sunday and he was very asleep and didn't manage to see the uncles and auntie. But we had lots of fun playing with his big sister, Yuriko.

ONE
Recently, when I went to McDonald's I saw on the menu that you could have an order of 6, 9 or 12 Chicken McNuggets.
I asked for a half dozen nuggets.
'We don't have half dozen nuggets,' said the teenager at the counter.
'You don't?' I replied.
'We only have six, nine, or twelve,' was the reply.
'So I can't order a half dozen nuggets, but I can order six?'
'That's right.'
So I shook my head and ordered six McNuggets
(Unbelievable but sadly true...)

TWO
I was checking out at the local Woolworths with just a few items and the lady behind me put her things on the belt close to mine. I picked up one of those 'dividers' that they keep by the cash register and placed it between our things so they wouldn't get mixed.
After the girl had scanned all of my items, she picked up the 'divider', looking it all over for the bar code so she could scan it.
Not finding the bar code, she said to me, 'Do you know how much this is?'
I said to her 'I've changed my mind; I don't think I'll buy that today.'
She said 'OK,' and I paid her for the things and left.
She had no clue to what had just happened.

THREE
A woman at work was seen putting a credit card into her floppy drive and pulling it out very quickly.
When I inquired as to what she was doing, she said she was shopping on the Internet and they kept asking for a credit card number, so she was using the ATM 'thingy.'
(keep shuddering!!)

FOUR
I recently saw a distraught young lady weeping beside her car. 'Do you need some help?' I asked.
She replied, 'I knew It! should have replaced the battery to this remote door unlocker. Now I can't get into my car. Do you think they (pointing to a distant convenience store) would have a battery to fit this?'
'Hmmm, I don't know. Do you have an alarm, too?' I asked.
'No, just this remote thingy,' she answered, handing it and the car keys to me. As I took the key and manually unlocked the door, I replied, 'Why don't you drive over there and check about the batteries. It's a long walk....'

FIVE
Several years ago, we had an Intern who was none too swift. One day she was typing and turned to a secretary and said, 'I'm almost out of typing paper. What do I do?' 'Just use paper from the photocopier', the secretary told her. With that, the intern took her last remaining blank piece of paper, put it on the photocopier and proceeded to make five 'blank' copies.

SIX
A mother calls 911 very worried asking the dispatcher if she needs to take her kid to the emergency room, the kid had eaten ants. The dispatcher tells her to give the kid some Benadryl and he should be fine, the mother says, 'I just gave him some ant killer......'
Dispatcher: 'Rush him in to emergency!'


Life is tough. It's even tougher if you're stupid!!!!

Marble Brownies

These brownies are my latest creation. These are made from both white and dark chocolate, separated so they form a nice color combination and looked like marble, hence the name, Marble Brownies.

Going to Joel's place to check out his new baby boy tomorrow. Huan Bin will be joining us and he loves dessert. So I made these squares and will be bringing them over to Joel's place tomorrow noon. Will keep some for Aunt Stella later when we gather for our usual Saturday dinner with grandpa.

Grandpa will be taking off to Ipoh by coach tomorrow evening after dinner. Thereafter, as usual, we will drop Aunt Stella home and she will make tea or coffee for us. So these marble squares will go well with those hot drinks. Yum Yum... ( shhhhh.. I already ate a piece while blogging here. Hehehe... )

Jello Jello

Superhubby is a weird man. Everyone thinks he is one lucky man who gets to try all the delicious bakings I bake almost every weekend. But the thing here is, he doesn't eat them, not that they are not delicious ( they are damn yummilicious lor... at least everyone who have tried my bakings said so.. )... but its just that he is not a dessert person and doesn't appreciate dessert like cakes, pastries, brownies, muffins, nothing sweet... not even bread. He is more of a savoury person. But the weird thing I realised yesterday, is that he actually love Jelly (jello). Yikes... not me though. Too much coloring, flavouring... I prefer things in original color and flavour, and I dislike using colors in my bakings. Too much chemicals, makes me feel yucky in my cookings and bakings. So as much as I can, I avoid using artificial flavouring (except vanilla essensce, can't avoid that in bakings, but other fruity flavour, I rather use the real fruit or fruit juice to reach end result)and colourings.

But these jellos are very simple to make. Instructions are on the box and you can get these in major supermarkets like NTUC, Cold Storage, Carrefour, Market Place etc.

Red one is of strawberry flavour and Yellow is of Pineapple flavour.

10 faces' dice??

Has anyone ever seen a 10 faces dice? Commonly, dice has 6 faces. But 10? Well, finally I've seen one today. Wee Leong the "Hairy Teo" has one and he has been keeping it in his bag all these years (thats what he said... but ain't sure what does it signify to carry one? Good Luck, he refuse to admit nor did he deny it.... hmmm.. mysterious man he is)

"Yo-Darling" is BACK!!!

"yo-darling" is finally back from his holiday trip to Beijing with his lovely wife and kids. And he came back with this box of Marron Chocolate for us (sounds like Moron Chocolate, eat liao can become morons... !!! LOL)

Tried one immediately and not bad... at least not too sweet... Will keep some for Kim who is away in KL now.

Thanks darling!!!
